The Reaper team checked the side entrance to Mouse’s building and found the door locked. Nicks called him up, but he didn’t answer the phone. A few minutes later, she received a text.

“I’m laughing so hard. Who the hell calls people these days?”

It was Mouse. He wasn’t home, but he was watching them. Remote cameras swiveled in their direction and shook their little heads up and down.

Nicks texted back, “Get your ass over here and open this door.”

“I’m not there right now.”

“Open up anyway.”

“Hells no, I’m in the middle of a meeting.”

“Quinn is here!”

“Is she still single?”

“Get over here and ask her.”

“Meet me at Break Room 86 in two hours.”

“One hour! Where is it?”

“Back of the Line Hotel. Bring Quinn!!”

Nicks texted him the middle finger emoji and stuffed her phone in her back pocket.

“I guess we break for dinner,” Byrne said.

“Lovely,” said Quinn.

“That dude has the biggest crush on you,” Nicks teased with a grin.

“Lucky me.”

Nicks patted her on the back. “Well, consider it mission related. If you weren’t here, I doubt he’d meet us. So, thanks in advance for dealing with his awkward male gaze.”

It was Quinn’s turn to use the middle finger.

“I deserve that,” Nicks quipped, raising her hands in surrender. “Okay, who likes chicken? Dinner is on me. Let’s go.”
